Underrated Basel Can Claim Another Scalp
The Swiss underdogs have every chance to establish a first leg advantage on their own patch.
They beat Chelsea home and away in the Champions League group stages, but Basel continue to be undervalued in European competition. At a best price of 5/2 (Betfred) they should be backed to win their home leg against Valencia.
The Swiss side upset the odds to reach the semi-finals of the Europa League last season and they are now on the cusp of repeating that feat. The 2-1 victory away to Salzburg in the last round went against all expectations and proved again what a decent side Basel are.
Valencia are on very indifferent form in La Liga having won only one of their last six and the 3-1 home defeat to Getafe ensures they arrive for this Europa League quarter final short of confidence.
