Europa League Tip: Defore Anytime Goalscorer

Likely starter, especially with an injury for Pavlyuchenko. Looked sharp at the weekend; averages a goal every 111 minutes in the Premier League.

Harry Redknapp has nursed his squad through the early stages of the Europa League but with two games remaining his team almost certainly need four more points to progress.  With home advantage, tonight’s game against PAOK Salonika is a good opportunity to bag that win.

Widespread changes are expected in the Spurs line-up, but with Roman Pavlyuchenko an injury doubt, Jermain Defoe could keep his place from the weekend. It has been a frustrating season for the diminutive striker, seeing his chances limited by the form of Rafael Van der Vaart and Emmanuel Adebayor, but he has made the most of the opportunities that have arisen.

At the weekend Defoe got a full 90 minutes against West Brom, where he looked sharp and scored a good goal. That was his fifth goal in the Premier League, coming at an average of one every 111 minutes. That is an excellent strike rate and it shows he is in goalscoring form despite the limited starts.

Tottenham are averaging two goals per game at White Hart Lane this season, and in a game they will be looking to win Jermain Defoe looks a likely anytime scorer at 6/5 with William Hill.
