Poland v Russia: First Goalscorer Tip

Dzagoev: A Golden Boot contender?

Man Utd were reportedly keeping tabs on CSKA Moscow's star even before his 2-goal debut at the Euros.

PaddyPower are doing a terrific money back deal on tonight’s second match which is frankly too good to pass up. The Irish firm will refund all losing First Goalscorer, Last Goalscorer, Correct Score and Scorecast singles on the match if Robert Lewandowski scores at anytime.

If we focus on the battle to break the deadlock it quickly becomes apparent what a fine deal this is for us. Lewandowski is favourite (11/2) in the first goalscorer market after he scored the tournament opener in Warsaw on Friday. After his spectacular season for Borussia Dortmund, we have a great chance of our money back if we don’t pick a winner.

Next up in the betting we have Aleksandr Kerzhakov (13/2). The Zenit striker made unwelcome history on Day 1; he became the first player to ever have 7 shots off target in a European Championship match. It’s hard to know what to make of that. On the one hand, he had a nightmare, but he was getting in good positions. On balance he’s too much of a risk for the price.

Next up there’s Roman Pavlyuchenko (13/2). The former Spurs man was razor-sharp when he replaced Kerzhakov, finding the net and assisting during his cameo appearance. The problem is he’s expected to start on the bench again on Tuesday.

This leads us to our oustanding candidate - Alan Dzagoev. The star of the show against Czech Republic, the 21-year-old scored two sumptuous efforts in a virtuoso all-round display. The man dubbed ‘The Russian Messi’ is a superb option at 15/2 (PaddyPower) to break the deadlock. It’s worth losing half a point - he’s 8/1 (StanJames) - to take advantage of Paddy’s great offer.
