England
FIFA Ranking: 7
Qualifying Campaign: W5 D3 L0
Average points per game: 2.3
Average goals per game: 2.1
Average goals conceded: 0.6
Summary:
Ironically, pundits and players seem determined to keep raising English hopes by discussing the benefits of low expectations. These low expectations are based on a rookie manager, star man Rooney being suspended for the opening two matches and a history of under-achievement. Still, they did qualify comfortably with an unbeaten campaign.
Prediction:
Rooney is favourite to be England’s top goalscorer despite the fact he may only play one match. It’s not impossible that somebody could top score for the Three Lions with two, or even just one goal if things don’t go well for Hodgson. Having found the net in each of his last four appearances, Ashley Young is the value at 8/1(BetVictor).
