England v Holland: Scoreline Tip

A second game at Wembley in 4 days

A number of top forwards are missing from this one so a goal bonanza is unlikely.

Having already predicted a draw, I think we can further narrow down our options for a scoreline tip. A quick look at the withdrawal list for both sides suggests a goal-fest is unlikely.

England will be without Wayne Rooney and Darren Bent. That leaves caretaker boss Stuart Pearce with Danny Wellbeck, Daniel Sturridge and Fraizer Campbell as his striking options - they have only four caps between them. It’s a big ask to expect too much from newcomers to the international set-up.

The Dutch have Tottenham’s Rafael van der Vaart absent after he withdrew on Monday. Meanwhile, injury-prone Arjen Robben is struggling and his time on the pitch may also have to be limited. So, everywhere you look, attacking verve is being lost.

With this in mind, it’s tempting to go for the 8/1 with Bluesquare on a goalless encounter at Wembley. And that may well be worth a small saver bet. However, I would favour the 1-1 draw if push came to shove at best odds of 11/2 with BetVictor.

England have scored in 10 consecutive matches while Holland still have the likes of Robin van Persie and Klaas Jan Huntelaar in their ranks. A couple of goals are therefore probably on the cards.
