Denmark v England Betting

Capello faces more tough questions if his patched-up side under-perform again.

This international friendly has all the makings of a snooze-fest but backing the goalless draw could make matters more exciting.

There’s nothing quite like an international midweek friendly involving England to bore and irritate the great British public in equal measure. The national team is a long way from special at the best of times - whenever they are - but with little to play for the extent of the mediocrity on show becomes almost unbearable. The chances of being entertained by Denmark v England are slim but at least we know that, so expectation levels are astonishingly low. What’s the opposite of mouth-watering?

The indifference of armchair pundits may be matched by many of the players who seem to be afflicted by Frank Spencer-style curses at these times, such is the injury list. Toe-stubbings and paper cuts are rarely career threatening but precautionary rest is normally the order of the day with big Premiership games to come at the weekend.

The death-defying reserves who do finally take to the pitch for England in Copenhagen on Wednesday night will probably be competent enough to avoid a real drubbing. Say what you like about England’s lack of creativity in possession of a football but they can generally still hack it away towards the half-way line with the best of them. This most certainly doesn’t add to the drama but does make a low scoring game against another competent but unspectacular bunch rather likely. Denmark fit neatly into this category.

They qualified for the World Cup but lost two out of three before exiting at the group stage. They currently sit third in their Euro 2012 qualifying group having beaten Iceland and Cyprus at home but lost to Portugal way. All pretty standard stuff really.

Everything suggests this match will be tight. A good way of livening things up could be a little scoreline wager. SkyBet have the 0-0 draw at 17/2 and what better way of tolerating the tedium than to back it?
