Dear Carlos

Tevez the striker

The relationship between manager and player is in tatters after a ‘misunderstanding’ in Munich.

Carlos Tevez has denied refusing to come on as a substitute against Bayern Munich, claiming it was a misunderstanding. Manager Roberto Mancini is of a different opinion, “If I have my way he (Tevez) will be out. He’s finished with me.”

With the story flooding the front and back pages, there are ramifications for both involved.

Skybet are convinced Tevez will be leaving the club in January and have cut the odds on him joining Corinthians to 2/1 (from 3/1). Anzhi Makhachkla 4/1 and PSG 5/1 are predictably next in the betting, both have the deeps pockets to fund a move for the Argentinian.

With the board likely to back their manager, Roberto Mancini should come out of this episode unscathed. Nevertheless, Bet365 have taken the precaution of cutting him to 16/1 (from 33/1) to be the next Premier League manager to leave his post.

If this all turns out to be a genuine misunderstanding then Carlos Tevez can be backed at 50/1 (Sportingbet) to be the Premier League’s top scorer this season. Don’t expect those odds to be shortening any time soon, with this story set to rumble on.
