The Saturday Acca

The difference between the teams in the bottom half of the Premier League is often minimal. We're backing the marginal gains of home advantage, strong management and team spirit on Saturday.

This week’s acca puts a premium on home advantage as we back one of the Championship’s top two alongside two Premier League strugglers due an upturn at best combined odds of 11.9/1 with Coral.

Burnley (h) to beat West Ham @13/10:

Two teams in poor form but I’d always back Sean Dyche to get his side back on track in a fixture like this at Turf Moor whereas West Ham have shown a distinct lack of character lately. Burnley’s slide looks worse than it is because Leicester, Chelsea and Sheffield Utd, surprisingly, represents a really tough run of fixtures. The Hammers don’t have the same excuses with recent defeats coming to Palace, Everton and Newcastle.

Southampton (h) to beat Everton @2/1:

Everton fans will be starting to hate me, but then again I don’t see them feeling much more optimistic about life under Silva these days. 17th is a pretty fair reflection of where they are as a club right now courtesy of a shocking away record which has delivered just 1pt this season. Admittedly, Southampton are down in 19th but this tip is an act of faith in Hassenhuttl who transformed Saints’ fortunes when he came in. They were decent at City last week.

Preston (h) to beat Huddersfield @20/23:

Close to evens money is a hell of result considering we’re backing the best home team in the Championship (W6 D2 L0) against the side sat in 18th. Of course it needs to be said that Huddersfield have improved greatly in recent weeks since the arrival of Danny Cowley. But they haven’t played a top-10 team in that run so this is a different level of test.
