Basel and Porto restored some pride with a second leg win and draw respectively. Besiktas are capable of doing the same.
There were three totally one sided 1st legs in the Champions League last 16 and we’ve already seen the second leg play out in two of those.
Liverpool followed their 5-0 victory in Porto with a 0-0 at Anfield before Man City lost 2-1 at home to Basel after a 4-0 away success. This doesn’t tell us a great deal other than superior sides can significantly take their foot off the gas.
It is with this awareness that we back Besiktas to win or draw their second leg hosting Bayern Munich at best odds of 13/8 with Bet365.
The Turks didn’t do themselves justice in Germany but the scoreline was also a reflection of the underdogs playing most of the night with just 10 men.
Besiktas are unbeaten for three years at home in Europe and they won’t want to lose that record or their recent good form since the first leg.
