La Liga Champions Shaken Not Stirred

With most of Europe’s superpowers found at obscenely short odds during the Champions League group stages, it’s a treat to find Atletico Madrid still available at a best price of evens (WilliamHill) to beat Olympiakos on Tuesday.

Last year’s gallant finalists are perhaps under-estimated because of the loss of Diego Costa and Thibaut Courtois this summer, but they have started the campaign superbly. They beat Real Madrid 2-1 at the Bernabeu at the weekend having already vanquished their arch-rivals in the Spanish Super Cup a few weeks ago.

Mario Mandzukic has settled in seamlessly in place of Costa, Diego Godin was persuaded to stay, and Diego Simeone continues to perform miracles generally.

Atletico were unbeaten away from home in the 2013-14 Champions League and grabbed wins at Chelsea, Porto and AC Milan. With their levels seemingly maintained, they should be too much for Greek opponents who were thumped 4-1 by PSG at the corresponding point of last season.
