First Leg Fireworks
Roma and Liverpool's quarter-finals produced 14 goals over their respective two legs. It's hard to imagine this one being quiet or the hosts not getting ahead with the Italians winning 1 of their last 14 away.
If there’s one lesson Roma will have learnt from their heroics against Barcelona it’s that you can achieve anything with an away goal. They lost 4-1 to the Catalans at the Nou Camp only to pull off one of the great Champions League comebacks to reach the semi-finals.
With that experience it’s unlikely that the Serie A club will suddenly just shut up shop at Anfield and we should back a Liverpool win and over 3.5 goals in the match at best odds of 11/5 with Ladbrokes.
Roma’s last 4 away fixtures in this competition have averaged 4 goals each and Liverpool are not the sort of side who push those stats downwards.
The Reds have scored a phenomenal 33 goals in the Champions League already in 2017-18 but you still wouldn’t bank on them for a clean sheet too often.
Expect the Merseysiders to gain an advantage with some first leg ferocity.
