Dutch Ace Can Reign In Spain

The scorer of the winning goal in last year's final is undeniably a man for the big occasion.

Wednesday night’s second Champions League semi-final has all the makings of a classic and Bayern start as favorites to progress (4/6 BetVictor). However, at 2/1 (StanJames) to win the first leg, the bookies expect the defending champions to do the damage back in Germany.

One man who could make a decisive contribution in the tie is Cristiano Ronaldo, but having missed the last four matches through injury, we still don’t know if he will play in the first leg. Instead, I would recommend siding with Arjen Robben in the first goalscorer market.

Of the players left in the competition, the Dutch star has had the second most shots behind Ronaldo and always looks a threat home and away. The Bayern winger has had more attempts on target and off target than both Messi and Ibrahimovic and the only surprise is that he only has four Champions League goals so far this campaign.

However, the stats suggest that could change at the Bernabeu and at 15/2 he is worth backing to break the deadlock with Paddy Power. Other firms are going 8/1 but we should give away that half point given that the Irish firm will refund losing bets if the match ends as a draw.

*If Real Madrid v Bayern Munich ends in a draw, Paddy Power will refund all losing First Goalscorer, Last Goalscorer, Correct Score and Scorecast bets on the match.
