Atletico Poised To KO Their Illustrious Compatriots

Still top of La Liga and unbeaten in the Champions League, it's a nonsense they can be 12/5 shots to win the second leg with home advantage.

After securing a 1-1 draw in the Nou Camp, Atletico Madrid secured a slender advantage ahead of the return leg in the capital. Top of La Liga a week into April, the hosts are still under-rated and must be backed at best odds of 12/5 (Boylesports) to win the second leg.

Barcelona will always be the more glamorous outfit and have all the history, but on the evidence of 2013-14 there is, at best, very little between the two sides.

Diego Simeone’s boys are unbeaten in the Champions League this term, nobody has conceded fewer goals (5 in 9 matches) and they have won all their home clashes in the competition. In La Liga they also remain unbeaten at Estadio Vicente Calderon (W14 D3).

Barcelona are only one point back in the table, but they have lost three times on their domestic travels. The Catalan giants also slipped up at Ajax in the group stages - they are far from the invincible force that the odds suggest.
