Champions League Opening Salvos

The Spanish giants dominate the betting but the two Manchester teams are stalking them in the betting.

Chelsea were the only English team to win in the opening round of Champions League fixtures but teams from the Premier League still dominate the betting, filling four of the top eight in the betting.

Barcelona remain best price 2/1 (Betfred) favourites to retain their title despite being held to a draw by AC Milan. Real Madrid are next best at 9/2 (Betfred) followed by a host of English teams.

Manchester United remain unchanged at 7/1 (Skybet) with City 11/1 (Coral) fourth favourites. These are surprisingly short odds considering their lack of Champions League experience and a draw at home in their opening game. To put it into context, seven times European Champions AC Milan are 25/1 with Boylesports despite earning a draw at the Nou Camp.

Other big prices to look out for are Borussia Dortmund at 40/1 (Bet365), who looked a good team when dominating their match against Arsenal. The Gunners at 33/1 (Stan James) are the biggest price they have been for several years, a reflection of their recent domestic troubles.
