Champions League: Group Betting (Tue)

There have been a few upsets in Europe's premier club competition already. But the bookies are sticking with the big names regardless.

The Champions League resumes on Tuesday evening with Groups E-H in action. We look at who’s poised for qualification and examine where the betting value may lie. All odds given are the best available on the market, and are to qualify.

Group E
Group E
Three decent teams are competing for two spots with the Danes reduced to whipping boys. The bookies think Chelsea are home and dry (2/5 Bluesquare) along with, more controversially, Juventus (4/9 PaddyPower). Shakhtar must be the value at evens (Bluesquare) having looked the better side in a 1-1 draw in Turin.

Group F
Group F
This group has been blown wide open by the little-known Belarusians winning both their opening matches, most recently 3-1 against mighty Bayern. The bookies think it won’t last and make BATE Borisov 7/4 (Bet365) to finish top two. Their clashes against Valencia (4/9 PaddyPower) will be crucial.

Group G
Group G
Essentially a battle to see who finishes behind Barcelona. Celtic (2/1 Bet365) head there tonight and have given themselves real hope with victory in Moscow. Benfica (4/5 Ladbrokes) have the pedigree but need to match that result tonight and then beat the Scots in Portugal.

Group H
Group H
Another group where it already looks like a tussle to see who joins the superpower, Man Utd, in the knockout phases. Braga (evens Ladbrokes) are favourites to join them but are the only ones yet to face the Red Devils. Galatasaray (3/1 PaddyPower) need back-to-back wins over CFR Cluj (9/4 Boylesports) to get right back in contention.
