Brighton v Cardiff Tip

Carling Cup finalists last year.

Malky Mackay has bought well in the summer and his Cardiff City side will feel things are rolling for them after an injury time winner on Friday.

It might just be that Cardiff City will only ever reach the promised land by storming to automatic promotion. The Welsh nearly-men have too much psychological baggage where the play-offs are concerned, but there is no doubting their pedigree at this level where they finish top six year in, year out.

On Tuesday night Malky Mackay’s rebranded Bluebirds head to Brighton who haven’t won a league match since 20 March, a run of nine fixtures. The Seagulls are really struggling for form, and in particular goals, after beginning 2012-13 with a 3-0 loss to Swindon in the Capital One Cup and a 1-0 reverse at Hull.

In contrast, Cardiff are now unbeaten in 11 regular league outings and will be on a high after an injury-time winner from captain Mark Hudson against Huddersfield on Friday. New strike partnership Craig Bellamy and Heidur Helguson should fare well in this division and I expect the visitors to take three points at best odds of 15/8 with WilliamHill.
