Bolton v Tottenham Tip

Davies: Playing a key role in the run-in.

Spurs look to be back on form and have the quality. But they have never won at the Reebok.

Tottenham are the heavy favourites (evens Ladbrokes) for this crucial clash and their performance level was much improved against Blackburn on Sunday. But dominating in front of their own fans is one thing, to do so at the Reebok Stadium has always proved a task beyond them. Spurs have never won a Premier League game at the ground.

Both sides have everything to play for and both should be lifted by recent events. The extent and pace of Fabrice Muamba’s recovery since his collapse against Tottenham has cheered everyone. There is talk that the midfielder may even be in the stands for this clash which would really delight the hosts.

Spurs have their own reasons to be grateful with Harry Redknapp surprisingly passed over for the England job. Assuming that Harry isn’t too down in the dumps, players and fans will surely be thrilled that he is set to stay put for the foreseeable future.

We also find ourselves in one of those situations where both teams desperately need to avoid defeat. Arguably, the draw wouldn’t be the end of the world for either and I think it looks like a sound option at best odds of 11/4 with Boylesports.

The visitors remain without an away league win in eight games and all of 2012. They haven’t even scored in their last four on the road and they have a few injury concerns heading to Lancashire.

But Bolton are still a side with only four wins in 17 home fixtures all season. However, they are on improved form as desperation sets in - unbeaten in three but with two draws against Sunderland and Swansea in that mini-run. I can see another one being added to the collection on Wednesday night.
