Cricket World Cup Betting: Rock'n'Roll Australia
Australia are cut for the Cricket World Cup after beating New Zealand. Whilst Bangladesh keep their hopes alive by edging Ireland.
If Ricky Ponting could watch the highlights on TV he would be pleased with his side. Australia cruised past New Zealand to win by seven wickets with 16 overs to spare. Australia have been cut in the outright betting, with Boylesports best price at 11/2.
Mitchell Johnson starred with the ball again, taking 4-33 and is now 9/2 favourite with Stan James to be the tournament’s top wicket taker. With such a low total to chase the Australian batsmen didn’t need big runs, only Watson and Haddin passing fifty. Watson is now 8/1 with Skybet to be the tournaments top batsman.
In the day’s other game Bangladesh defended a modest total to beat Ireland by 27 runs. It was a game they had to win to keep their chances in the tournament alive, although they are still rated outsiders at 80/1 with Ladbrokes.
