Wimbledon Tip: Tipsarevic to beat Karlovic

Janko Tips-Arevic

Tipsarevic might not be as injured as appears. His opponent is in atrocious form and the betting is the wrong way round.

Janko Tipsarevic and Ivo Karlovic take aim on Court 12 this afternoon. Both come into the match with injury worries. Karlovic has been struggling with a lower back injury but in truth the whole year has been a struggle.

The big serving Croatian has slumped to world number 143 with a record this year of 10wins-14losses. A disappointing defeat at Queen’s to Kevin Anderson was his fourth consecutive first round defeat. He has to be opposed.

Janko Tipsarevic has injury worries of his own but like his tennis, there is an element of dramatics. Having reached the final of Eastbourne he was unhappy to be playing late in the evening on a slippery court. With opponent Andreas Seppi serving for the match, one last stumble was too much and the world number 30 retired injured. Although quite possibly hurt, there was an element of ‘toys out of the pram’ from the fiery Serbian.

If the severity of the injury was overplayed, his form coming into Wimbledon is strong and he should have too much for his opponent.
