Wimbledon Tip: Starace to beat Wawrinka

You Say Potito

The Swiss number 13 seed is making a habit of going out in the first round. He is ripe for the taking.

It is the first day of Wimbledon and there is plenty going on. With the seeding system, many of the matches look one sided, certainly according to the betting. But like the FA Cup third round, if you look hard enough you can find an upset.

The biggest player in danger is number 13 seed Stanislas Wawrinka. He plays Italian Potito Starace on court 3. It is not his opponent but Wawrinka himself who is the worry.

In his last six tournaments, he has been eliminated in the first round four times. The players knocking him out aren’t exactly world beaters either: Marcel Granollers, Dustin Brown, Guillermo Garcia-Lopez and James Ward have all enjoyed victories.

Potito Starace is no more than a journeyman clay court specialist. Nevertheless, given the shaky form of his opponent, just a consistent level of tennis could cause an upset.
