Wimbledon Tip: Anastasia Pavlyuckenkova v Nadia Petrova

Petrova A Good Bet

The number 14 seed on the women's side is vulnerable to the upset here.

There are no shortage of high rankers in the women’s draw who have been seeded without any established credentials on grass. The seedings generally just copy the rankings and the bookies follow the seedings, so it’s not hard to see how they’ll sometimes get their figures wrong with this simplistic approach.

Pavlyuchenkova is ranked 14th but has never been beyond the 3rd round here in four attempts. Her opponent, Petrova is 2/1 to cause an upset which looks like decent value given her superior record at SW19. The 29-year-old has been to the quarter-finals on two occasions and advanced to the round of 16 on another four occasions. In other words it should be no real surprise if the current world number 37 wins this battle of the Russians at 2/1 with Bluesquare.
