Murray 7/2 For 2013 Wimbledon Title

Murray: On Cloud Nine

Britain's first Grand Slam winner since 1936 will want to reach the top of the world rankings over the coming months.

After breaking his Grand Slam duck in spectacular fashion on Monday night, attention will soon turn to when Andy Murray might win Wimbledon. The US Open champion is a best price 7/2 (Ladbrokes) to triumph on home soil in 2013. Novak Djokovic remains the 3/1 (Sportingbet) favourite, at least for now.

The next tennis major is the Australian Open in January and Murray, already a two-time finalist there, is 7/2 (StanJames) to make it two on the bounce. The bookies have evidently decided that New York is the Scotsman’s best bet of further Grand Slam glory at a best price of 9/4 with Skybet.

However, speculative punters may decide that the 25-year-old is an intriguing long shot for the French Open at a best price of 20/1 with StanJames. Rafa Nadal (4/5 BetVictor) is the undisputed king of Roland Garros but is currently undergoing some pretty serious injury problems.
