Ladies' Semi-Finals Preview

We take a statistical look at the four players contesting the Wimbledon Ladies’ semi-finals.

Having knocked out Serena Williams on her way to the semi-finals, Sabine Lisicki is the 13/10 (Boylesports) outright favourite for the title. The bookmakers believe the winner will come from her semi-final against Agnieszka Radwanska, with the Pole second favourite in the outright betting at 5/2 (Coral). However, look beyond the bare results and a different picture emerges.

Points Supremacy Per Set

Marion Bartoli is yet to drop a set in the Championship and although she might have enjoyed an easier passage to the semi-final stage, she has dominated her opponents.

On average, she has won 7.8 points more per set than her opponents have, that is 1.5 points more than Sabine Lisicki. It is right to factor in the level of opposition but faced with the easier of the two semi-finals, the number 15 seed could be the value in the outright market at 9/2 (Sportingbet).
