Janowicz v Murray Tip

The Pole is a mighty ace-machine who has held 95% of his service games so far in this tournament.

All eyes will be on Andy Murray on Friday afternoon as he bids to reach the Wimbledon final for a second year running. He is certainly expected to do so but against 6ft 8in Jerzy Janowicz he will be forced to withstand some barrages.

The outsider will have already made himself a big celebrity back home by becoming the first Polish man ever to reach the semi-final of a Grand Slam tournament. He has done it predominantly off the back of a monstrous serve which has so far delivered 94 aces, compared to Murray’s 60.

The 22-year-old has only lost four of his 78 service games at SW19 so far whereas Britain’s number one has faltered seven times. It’s with this in mind that I like the look of Janowicz to break serve first in the match at best odds of 9/4 with Ladbrokes.

Murray started painfully slowly on Wednesday as he slumped to a two-set deficit against Verdasco. Meanwhile, the 24th seed saw off fellow-countryman Kubot without dropping a set or a service game. The value in backing the underdog in this market looks clear.
