Wimbledon Tip: Williams v Shvedova

Serena: Lacks consistency

The 'Golden Set' girl could take advantage if Serena starts slowly again.

Yaroslav Shvedova made tennis history on Saturday when she became the first player in Grand Slam history to win a set without losing a single point. The Russian claimed 24 points in a row to leave number 10 seed Sara Errani utterly bewildered.

“I don’t even feel like I played terribly,” said Errani, who finally lost 6-0 6-4. “She was just hitting winners from every part of the court.

Next up for the Wimbledon wild-card is four-time champion Serena Williams who is expected to storm into the quarter-finals (2/9 PaddyPower). But the American was nearly ousted in round three by China’s Zheng Jie. The final score was 6-7 6-2 9-7.

I don’t see a major upset on the cards here but a match that goes the distance is hardly out of the question on form. Shvedova is a best price 3/1 (WilliamHill) to storm out of the blocks again and win the opening set on Monday.
