Wimbledon Record:
Certainly has a little pedigree after finishing runner-up last year. The 24-year-old also made the quarter-finals in 2008, when she was only halted by Serena, and in 2009, when the other Williams sister, Venus proved too strong. But it was in 2012 when she really showed her class on grass by beating Kerber in the semi-finals before extending Serena to three sets in the Championship match.

Form:
Started like a train by winning consecutive tournaments in January but that’s been as good as it’s got. Quarter-final appearances at the Australian and French Opens were just about par for the course in the Slams. A first round exit at Eastbourne to qualifer Jamie Hampton will not have bred confidence for the grass campaign.

Prospects:
An excellent chance of making the quarters or the semis again but you would think there is little hope of hermaking it back-to-back Wimbledon finals. The primary reason for this is that Serena is in her half of the draw this time round.
