Djokovic stormed to a first US Open title

Novak Djokovic has produced one of the greatest runs of form in the history of tennis.

Following on from his spellbinding win at the US Open, the bookies are already inviting punters to speculate on what Novak Djokovic will do next. The Serbian sensation has now claimed three of this year’s four Grand Slam titles after success at the Australian Open, Wimbledon and at Flushing Meadows on Monday.

His only ‘failure’ was a semi-final exit at the French Open at the hands of former world number one Roger Federer. Remarkably, that was one of just two defeats in this calender year; the other was a retirement through injury against Andy Murray at the Cincinnati Masters.

Having had one of the greatest spells in the history of the sport, how can Novak follow this up in 2012? He is a best price of 33/1 with SkyBet to win all four Grand Slam titles next time round. Bet365 go 7/1 on the 24-year-old winning three of the set again, with two triumphs at 9/4 with Ladbrokes. The chances of him going from feast to famine are seen as unlikely with Skybet offering 7/2 on the Slams eluding him altogether.

Coral have gone out on a limb by offering 66/1 on Djokovic going through 2012 without losing a single match, presuming he plays in at least three slam events. None of this looks like great news for the rest. Andy Murray is 7/4 with Hills to win any one of the majors next year.
