The Spaniard beat the Frenchman with a 'bagel' in the final set as recently as Saturday.
In one of those bizarre twists of fate that sport can throw up, Gilles Simon will meet Feliciano Lopez at Wimbledon on Tuesday just three days after their last clash.
The pair contested the final of the Aegon International at Eastbourne on Saturday which saw Lopez emerge as champion by a 7-6 6-7 6-0 scoreline. So after two tie-breaks, the Spaniard blew his French opponent away with a ‘bagel’ in the decider.
Having lost his serve three times in a row when it came to the crunch, I can’t resist backing Simon to lose his first service game of this match as well at odds of 11/2 with Ladbrokes. Lopez will surely have a psychological edge, at least initially, and he may just have figured out his man.
