Simon v Federer Tip

The Swiss star obliterated this opponent 6-1 6-2 on clay just three weeks ago.

Roger Federer has been making imperious progress at Roland Garros thus far and that should continue on Sunday against local favourite Gilles Simon. The 17-time Grand Slam champion is 11/10 (Paddypower) to win with the loss of under 11.5 games.

The most recent meeting of the pair was very recent indeed - a 6-1 6-2 thrashing dished out by Federer on clay at the Rome Masters just three weeks ago. It could be more of the same here as the Swiss star eyes his 900th tour-level victory.

While Federer hasn’t really looked like dropping a set in his first three rounds, Simon may be running on empty already. The world number 18 took five sets to see off veteran Leyton Hewitt, then four against Pablo Cuevas, before another five-set marathon against Sam Querrey on Friday.

The underdog may simply wilt if Federer starts like a train again and that’s where my money’s going.
