Pennetta v Azarenka Tip

Something of a saver bet, with concerns over the number two seed's fitness.

Having backed Victoria Azarenka as an each-way bet to go all the way, I was less than overjoyed to see her collapse in shrieking agony on Day 1 against Maria Joao Koehler. After treatment she was able to continue and win 6-1 6-2 against a limited opponent, but I don’t think ‘Vika’ fans can relax just yet.

On Wednesday she faces the vastly experienced Flavia Pennetta who is better equipped to exploit any lingering problems with Azarenka’s right knee. The Italian actually won the pair’s last meeting in 2011 and, in the circumstances, she looks a shrewd saver bet to take at least a set at best odds of 2/1 with PaddyPower.

In a dream scenario, the 31-year-old may push the world number two pretty hard before losing in three sets. That would win us this bet while keeping one of our pre-tournament prospects alive and kicking.
