Nadal v Nishikori Tip

Another bet where the underdog could win for us without even taking a set.

Until we see evidence of the ‘old Nadal’ in Paris I’m going to keep backing his opponents to put up a fight against him. PaddyPower go 11/10 on Kei Nishikori winning over 10.5 games in the match and that looks like value.

We won betting against a Nadal steamroller on Saturday and the same logic applies here. The seven-time champion lost 19 games in R1, 15 games in R2 and 14 games in R3. Now up against the 13th seed, his best opponent yet, there’s no reason to think he will suddenly find it much easier.

The rising star of Japanese tennis can borrow on his experience playing Roger Federer on red clay less than a month ago. The 23-year-old beat the Swiss star 6-4 1-6 6-2 at the Madrid Open. He doesn’t need to do anything nearly as spectacular to win us this bet.
