Murray v Berdych

The Czech has a winning record against Scotland's finest which the bookmakers are choosing to ignore.

It may have been Andy Murray’s breakthrough year in terms of Grand Slam tennis, but that doesn’t mean he’s going to necessarily dominate proceedings at London’s O2 Arena. Tomas Berdych leads the head-to-head contests between the pair 4-3 and he should never be as long as 9/4 (Skybet) to win on Monday.

The Czech was close to ending Murray’s US Open quest in the semi-finals when he was 5-2 up in a fourth set tie-break that looked decisive. The Scot clung on at Flushing Meadows but the outcome has gone the other way in four of the five clashes prior to that.

Murray suffered a shock exit to Jerzy Janowicz in the Paris Masters last week and there is a danger he has just run out of steam a little. The British number one has never progressed past the semi-finals in this event and another setback could be on the cards here.
