Kvitova v Shvedova Tip

The 2011 champion is a pale imitation of her former self and could be packing her bags early this year.

Former singles champion Petra Kvitova will face a stern examination from a previous winner of the Wimbledon Women’s Doubles title, Yaroslava Shvedova, in Round 2.

Shvedova tasted Centre Court glory alongside Vania King back in 2010 but she also made headlines all on her own at SW19 just last summer. The Russian became only the third player in the professional era to claim a ‘Golden Set’ - the 28-year-old won all 24 points in the first set against shell-shocked number 10 seed Sara Errani en route to the last 16. At that point she extended Serena Williams to three sets before going out gallantly.

Kvitova is not the same player she was in 2011 and has perhaps become burdened by the success she enjoyed that summer. She suffered early exits in both the Australian and French Opens this year.

In round one the Czech sneaked through 6-1 5-7 6-4 against world number 96 Coco Vandeweghe who has only ever won one of her 11 Grand Slam matches. Shvedova is a much stronger opponent and can be fancied at best odds of 85/40 with BetVictor.
