X Factor Social Media Charts: Week 1

Social media plays a huge part in promoting the acts. Can they offer us any clues when it comes to making a bet?

Social media is an important way for acts to engage with their audience, therefore each X Factor contestant has their own Facebook page and Twitter account. The show even has its own YouTube channel.

The good news from a punting perspective is that we have lots more audience data to analyse. Every interaction on Twitter, Facebook and YouTube is counted and readily available. We have trawled the three channels to see who is drawing a crowd and who is struggling for friends.

According to YouTube the competition is already over.  Ella Henderson won week 1 by a landslide, her version of Take That’s ‘Rule The World’ generated over 2million views. She is a best price 10/11 (Betfred) to win the competition and that might be good value based on the figures.

Lucy Spraggan is leading the social media stats, with the most Twitter followers and Facebook likes. She had one of the standout first auditions and has benefited from that early boost. Elsewhere Union J are doing surprisingly well on Twitter.

District3 are struggling on Facebook, perhaps a result of the recent name change, whilst Melanie Masson also looks in trouble. Her stats suggest she is struggling to engage with the audience and looks a big price at 11/1 (Stan James) to be the next act eliminated.
