York Tips: The Thrill Is Gone

Ran well on her seasonal reappearance when poorly drawn at Goodwood and should improve on that performance.

With the stalls positioned in the middle of the track, I expect the field to race in an arrowhead formation in the 2.00 York.

This could disadvantage those drawn on the flanks, and with the favourite Rex Imperator drawn in stall 20, he will have to run very well indeed to win.

Ideally drawn in stall 9, I expect The Thrill Is Gone to run a big race. Having belatedly started her season at the end of July, she ran an absolute cracker at Goodwood.

Although she finished 10th she was only three lengths behind the winner. The performance was all the more impressive as she was forced to race against the unfavoured stand’s rail. The horses who raced next to her eventually finished tailed off.

The track should pose no problems; last year at York she finished ahead of subsequent Nunthrope winner Margot Did.  With a good recent run under her belt she looks excellent value at 25/1 with Ladbrokes.
