York Tips: Moviesta

Mightily impressive winner at Goodwood and won’t be inconvenienced by the going change.

There will plenty of attention focused on Moviesta in the Nunthorpe (3.40 York) because he is part owned by Harry Redknapp but don’t let that influence your judgement. After all, the horse doesn’t know who owns him!

What’s important is ability and Moviesta has it in spades. In winning at Goodwood, he earned the joint highest speed rating I have given a 5f horse all season. He won in an exceptionally fast time, helped by the solid gallop, and with it being only his ninth start there is probably more to come.

He is a previous course and distance winner, which is a bonus but more importantly, he achieved that victory on soft ground. York had a deluge last night, with 20mm of rain falling on the track, changing the going description to good to soft.

The GoingStick reading on the straight course is 6.3, which is the same as when Moviesta won on 17 May.

In terms of ability Sole Power and Shea Shea are the main dangers but they might be inconvenienced by the ground, which makes Moviesta the best bet at 6/1 (Boylesports)
