York Tips: Gramercy

Finished second in the race last year and despite racing off a 2lb lower mark he arrives in better form.

Gramercy was slightly unlucky when finishing runner-up in this race last year and I fancy he can go one better in the 3.30 York.

He is a horse who has clearly had problems, he is six-years-old and has only raced 24 times but David Simcock seems to have him close to his best.

Last time out 7f in the Bunbury Cup stretched his stamina but previously he ran a good fourth at Newcastle over 6f on ground that was softer than ideal.

He is a horse who needs them to go hard upfront and that is almost guaranteed with a capacity field of 20-runners.

Last year he weaved his way through the pack to finish second by 1.25 lengths, and if granted a clear passage he should go close off a 2lb lower mark.
