York Tips: Ardad
High class 5f juvenile sprinter last term. Ran well in the Abbaye and took a Group 2 at Doncaster.
Ardad has to shoulder a penalty in the 4.35 York but it’s well deserved. Last season he was amongst the speediest juveniles with a record over 5f that read 1119.
The only blot on his copy book at the minimum distance came at Longchamp in the Prix de l’Abbaye and that was still a good run. Up against the best 5f sprinters in Europe he was only beaten 4 lengths and didn’t get the clearest of runs either.
At his best Ardad is a very quick horse. In the Flying Childers he ran a fast overall time and the quickest closing sectional by 0.18s without being fully extended.
A winner on soft ground, he should handle conditions and in my book is the one to beat.
