York Tip: Rocket Rob

Knocking on the door and desperately unlucky not to win last time out.

The key to the 4.25 at York is the draw. There isn’t an obvious track bias but there is a pace bias. All the prominent horses are drawn low, with Mayoman and Befortyfour the likely pace setters in stalls 7 & 8. The stand’s side isn’t a great place at the best of times. Those in double figures are unlikely to get into the race and it will take a huge effort for any of them to win.

Drawn in stall 6, right next to the pace is Rocket Rob. In his last two runs he has shown that he is ready to strike. Last time at Nottingham he tucked in behind the field from his poor draw. As the race started to wind up he was still seven lengths behind, encountering all sorts of interference. When he got a gap in the last 150 yards he flew home to take third. With a better draw or trouble free trip he would certainly have won.

Scheduled to go up 5lbs in the future, he can make the best of his good draw and excellent form to take this race.
