York Racing Tips: Steps
Poorly drawn on his last start but beat the horses around him. At his best on soft ground.
The conditions in the 2.05 York will be quite testing but that is no problem for Steps. His best run of the season came in soft ground at Newmarket as he can get outpaced on a quicker surface.
Last time out at Haydock, he had ideal underfoot conditions but was scuppered by the draw. Racing from stall 1, he came home first of the group that raced on the far side. Unfortunately, the race developed down the nearside rail and he had no chance with the winner.
The draw shouldn’t be an issue today if the pack race up the centre of the track and he looks good value at 9/2 (Bet365) with plenty in his favour.
