Isabella Ruby ran the best race of her young career when second over course and distance twelve days ago and off a mark of 47 she can win a little race like this. Her last contest was shaped by the blistering early pace but Lisa Williamson’s filly wasn’t outpaced and she finished strongly, with the fastest (although not quick in absolute terms) closing sectional.

Isabella Ruby passed the eye-test, running only strongly without getting to the winner who got first run and all this achieved from a wide draw and trip. The only concern is that the race was much slower than division two, half an hour later despite both having a similair pace profile. If we go strictly by the times then Sophisticated Heir would be the better bet at the same price.

However, Isabella Ruby’s performance was done the hard way and given her profile she could improve again.
