Wolverhampton: Deconso
Finished third over course and distance in August but trapped in a pocket as race developed and then forced to make run under a slow rail. Did well to finish as close as he did.
We are starting to see more all-weather races on the calendar as the turf season ebbs away and that is producing collateral form. Qaaraat and Comeatchoo ran decent races two days ago but i’m throwing them both out on account of abysmal strike-rates.
The better collateral form is between Deconso and Elzaam’s Dream and the former was desperately unlucky in third. He got caught in the pocket as the race developed around the bend and then had to make his run tight against (the often slow) far rail. To get so close (beaten 1.5 lengths) was a fine effort under the circumstances.
