Windsor Tips: Scarlet Rocks

Something of a track specialist and her trainer has won the last two editions of the race.

Several horses in the 6.10 Windsor have very dubious looking form. Falasteen might be the top rated horse but he’s developed a habit of fluffing the start. A drop into claiming company doesn’t strike me as a positive move.

Scarlet Rocks is used to competing in this sort of company and she can provide David Evans with a third consecutive victory in the race. Her trainer is very adept at using claiming races to generate wins, enjoying an 18% strike rate, double his usual win rate on turf.

On her last turf start of 2011, Scarlet Rocks won a similar race over course and distance by 2.75 lengths, clocking a very good time in the process. The Windsor track clearly suits her; she has won twice in ten starts, placing a further four times.

She put in an encouraging performance last month when racing over an inadequate 5f and being hampered at a crucial time. Returning to 6f she can be seen to good effect, whilst also benefiting from the best draw.
