Windsor Tip: Power Seeker

Yet to run since Salisbury but form of race very strong. Ran fifth fastest closing sectional at Salisbury this season and race has produced next time out winners and good performances at Royal Ascot.

The quality of novice races at Salisbury varies wildly but on the 17th May there was a good one. Rumble Inthejungle won and boosted the form by finishing fourth in the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot. It was also an interesting race from a sectional perspective.

The early pace was modest and the horses quicken in the second half of the contests. Rumble Inthejungle made all and his finishing speed was 104.7% of his overall speed, indicating a fast finish.

Considering the modest early gallop the field were strung out early on with some horses struggling, possibly due to inexpereience. The fastest closing sectionals were run by:

WELL DONE FOX
RUMBLE INTHEJUNGLE (IRE)
HIGH HORSE (IRE)
SUNSPRITE (IRE)
POWER SEEKER (IRE)

All of the above dipped below 38s for the final 3.25 furlongs and they are five of only six horses to do so at the track this season from 364 runners. The overall time for the race was good and this was an above average race of its type.

The collateral form also reads well. Since Salisbury the above five have finished 418211. Two of those defeats came at Royal Ascot whilst High Horse finished second to Sunsprite at Bath and nine lengths ahead of the third horse. The only horse of the five yet to run again is Power Seeker and he goes in the 1.50 at Windsor at 66/1. He must be better than the odds suggest.
