Windsor Tip: Play The Blues

Impressive runner-up at Folkestone after giving the winner a six length head start. Lightly raced, there is some talent lurking away.

There is so much all weather form in the 4.35 at Windsor you’d think they mistaken the race for one at Wolverhampton. Most of the polytrack form on show is very low grade and those runners can be thrown out.

The two interesting horses are the most likely raced ones; Questionnaire and Play The Blues. The former is likely to go off a warm favourite. With a good draw and winning form there is little to put you off. But at a likely SP of 4/1 or less I want to see more. There is a suspicion that she raced on the quickest part of the track when winning a very weak maiden. She was possibly flattered.

Play The Blues has done things the hard way and I like that. Still a maiden for a little known trainer, she is unlikely to capture the betting public’s imagination. However there is plenty to like about this filly.

Two runs ago, she fell out the stalls and gave the winner a six length head start. Marooned out the back, on a speed favouring track, she had everything against her. Despite this, she made a good mid-race move, barging through rivals to challenge the eventual winner. She failed by a length she showed a willing aptitude, something I like in young horses.

Having only her seventh start there could be more improvement to come. If she breaks on terms, she could be in the mix at a decent price.
