Windsor Races Tips: Evens And Odds

Stewards’ Cup winner and not much between top handicappers and listed sprinters.

The 7.40 listed sprint at Windsor is often used as a springboard to the Golden Jubilee. Bated Breath is a short price favourite for tonight’s race and 20/1 for the Royal Ascot showpiece. He is an exciting prospect and should improve on the quicker going after his speed was rather blunted in gluey ground at Haydock last time. He should win but offers little betting value.

At 14/1 Evens And Odds is a rather more exciting betting prospect. The highlight of his career was winning the Stewards’ Cup at Glorious Goodwood last year. With the gap between top sprint handicappers and listed class negligible, he should be competitive at Windsor. A winner on his reappearance at Thirsk he then ran a fair race in the Palace House at Newmarket over an inadequate five furlongs.

On my speed ratings he has on at least six occasions run fast enough to win a listed/minor group event and with eight runners he only needs a top three finish for us to turn a profit. Take the 1/5 odds for a place and back him each way at 14/1.

*This race is a Bet365 feature race: Back any single winner at 4/1 or more on a bet365 feature race and you can have a free bet to the same stake (£50 max.) on the next bet365 feature race.
