Wetherby Tips: Silviniaco Conti

With Kauto Star now retired there is a gap in the Nicholls’ stable for a premier 3-mile chaser and Silviniaco Conti in the 3.25 Wetherby could plug that.

The six-year-old put in a scintillating performance to win at Aintree in April, slamming the smart Champion Court by 13 lengths. It was a performance that had been on the cards after he got within 2.25 lengths of Grands Crus at Kempton, another 100 yards and he would have probably won.

He is a horse with stamina in abundance and that will help him at Wetherby given the likely strong gallop. Horses like Midnight Chase and Time For Rupert are sure to make the race a proper test.

Silviniaco Conti has the potential to be a chasing superstar and with conditions to suit, I expect a big run at 6/4 (Paddy Power).
