Wetherby Tips: Lackamon

Has won two of his last three, ground and distance won’t be a problem and looks well handicapped.

If the ground became very testing then National types like Neptune Equester could get involved but with a blend of speed and stamina Lackamon looks the best value in the 1.45 at Wetherby.

Still a novice he has won two of his three starts over fences, looking highly progressive in the process. He is up 12lbs for his last win but that is almost entirely negated by the useful 10lb claimer Jonathan England taking the ride.

At Newcastle he picked up a good class three event, recording a speed rating in excess of his handicap mark as he ran out a 12 length winner. After the win jockey Henry Oliver suggested he would improve for his racing and that looks a fair assumption.

The handicapper probably hasn’t caught up with this horse yet, and with trainer Sue Smith enjoying a good run of form, he is the value bet at 12/1 with Coral.
