Wetherby Tips: Duke Of Lucca

Twice placed in Graded handicaps last season and can capitalise on a career low mark.

Several of the field in the 2.10 Wetherby are stepping up to class 1 company for the first time in their careers. It might prove a leap too far therefore I’m sticking with Duke Of Lucca who is proven at this level.

Philip Hobbs’s 8-year-old was highly tried last season, his first outside of novice company and he acquitted himself well. He placed in two valuable Grade 3 handicaps and looked a capable chaser in the making.

He is 8lbs lower than the start of last season and should be able to capitalise on the handicapper’s leniency. He was not beaten far on his seasonal reappearance 20 days ago and with a run under his belt I expect him to be in the mix at 9/1 (Betfred).
