Warwick Tip: Ursula
All her best runs have been with today’s jockey doing the steering. The yard is flying and she is well drawn.
The six furlongs at Warwick is run round a bend and despite the majority of the pace being drawn high, a low draw is still the shortest route to the winning line.
In stall two Ursula has an excellent chance to get her season back on track. After a narrow defeat a fortnight ago, everything went wrong for her at Ayr. Sent off as the 11/4 favourite she ran no sort of race, with the trainer at a loss to explain the performance. Normally this could be a worry, but she has run clunkers before and bounced back.
Some mares can be quite particular and this one excels under a certain set of circumstances. Both her handicap wins have been over six furlongs but it is the jockey who makes the difference. When racing over six on turf, in class four races or lower, with Andrew Elliot on board, her record is: 101.
The stable is having a good 2011, with a 17% strike rate. Everything is set for Ursula to return to form.
